We offer modern, personalized periodontal care designed to treat disease, protect your smile, and help you stay ahead of bigger problems. If you’ve been told you need more than “just a cleaning,” you’re not alone.
Periodontal care focuses on treating and managing gum disease, before it has a chance to turn into something more serious (or bloody enough to resemble a scene from Dexter).

Healthy Gums Matter
Healthy teeth need healthy gums to hold them in place, but gum disease is sneaky. You may not feel pain or see obvious signs until the damage is already underway. Bleeding when brushing, tenderness, or gums that look red or swollen can all be early warning signs.
When gums are inflamed, infected, or receding, it can affect everything from bad breath and tooth sensitivity to bone loss and tooth stability. That’s why we check more than just plaque.
We measure the depth between your teeth and gums (in millimeters) to spot infection early. If those numbers are higher than they should be, it means bacteria has already made itself at home, and it’s time to take action.
Periodontal Services
Debridement (A Fresh Start for Your Gums)
If it’s been a while since your last cleaning (no judgment), we might not even see your gum health until we remove the tartar buildup that’s hardened like concrete.
That’s where debridement comes in. It’s a deep pre-cleaning to break through buildup and get a clearer picture of what’s going on underneath.
Think of it like removing barnacles before you can inspect the hull of a ship.
Scaling & Root Planing (Deep Cleaning, Literally)
Once we’ve assessed your gum health, you may need a procedure called scaling and root planing, which is essentially a detailed cleaning that goes below the gum line.
Periodontal Maintenance
After treatment, you’ll likely move to periodontal maintenance, which is different than a regular 6-month check up. These visits are more frequent (typically every 3-4 months) and allow us to clean below the gumline to prevent re-infection and measure any improvements.
New Tech = Less Stress
We’ve invested in updated periodontal tools and techniques to make your treatment more comfortable, effective, and more personalized. That includes saliva testing, which helps us better understand the bacterial environment in your mouth and tailor your treatment accordingly.
No medieval scraping here, we use gentle methods that reduce discomfort and speed up healing. Smarter care helps us treat gum disease with less stress and more precision.
Do I really Need More Than “Just a Cleaning?”
We hear this question a lot. And we get it. Nobody wants to sign up for extra dental visits. But if your gums are bleeding when you brush, or your measurements are higher than 3mm, then “a traditional “just a cleaning” won’t cut it.

You can’t always feel gum disease, but we can see it and measure it.
Our goal isn’t to upsell you. It’s to help you keep your teeth. And we’d much rather do that than hand you a denture.
If your gums are tender, bleeding, or you’ve been told you have periodontal disease, we’re here to help. Give us a call at (207) 782-5308.
